Bratz Wiki
Work in progress!
WIP This article is a work in progress! This means that it's still being edited and is not complete but we are working on getting it finished.

This page is a comprehensive list of policies and guidelines for editing on the Bratz Wiki. All users are required to comply with these guidelines. If you have questions, feel free to contact an administrator.

General Editing Guidelines

  • When you create a page on a topic that has been recently introduced do not hastily make a stub just to be the first contributor to that page. You are expected to make sure the page is presentable and in compliance with these guidelines.

Infoboxes

  • Do not edit templates using the visual editor. This may mess with the formatting.

Sources

  • This is a factual wiki. Not a FAN / ROLEPLAY wiki. This means everything on the wiki is canon, not created by fans.
  • When adding information to the wiki that is not widely known, you must supply sources or you risk your edits being deleted.
  • An example of widely known information is: "Cloe has blue eyes", "Cool Bratz came out in 2001", "Sasha is in a band named Rock Angelz". These sort of statements don't need sources, because the information is widely available.and known amongst the fandom.
  • An example of an edit that does need sources is: "Kaycee's middle name is Agnes", "Yasmin was originally named Lupe", "Yasmin's favourite colour is honey yellow".
  • In the case of these, you need to link sources. This can be a news article, a page in a Bratz book, a line in a movie, a quote on the back of a box, or a page of the Bratz website.
  • If you post something not widely known, say "Cloe admits to actually being a redhead who began dying her hair blonde when she was a child" without linking a source, your post will be deleted. You will be told to supply sources. Continuous unsourced edits will result in a warning and an eventual ban.
  • THE CHARACTERS DO NOT HAVE SET RACES. So please do not add anything suggesting they may be a certain race to a profile, it causes arguments. We had to turn off the comments on Yasmin's profile because of this.

Images

  • Artwork: Artwork must be official from MGA or from an official Bratz social media account. Fan art or concept art, is only allowed from artists who have worked on the brand, such as Isaac Larian, Carter Bryant and Hayden Williams.
  • Dolls: Images of dolls should be the largest, highest quality image possible. Most people don't care if you use their images, but if a watermark is clear on the page you should link it in the description.
  • Photography: Doll photography is allowed in certain areas, but must be credited to the original artist.
  • All images should be named appropriately with the current form:
    • Doll Line Name - Character (Product)
    • Example Doll: Rock Angelz - Cloe.jpg
    • Example Artwork: Rock Angelz - Cloe (Art).jpg
    • Example Box: Rock Angelz - Cloe (Box).jpg
    • Example Box Reverse: Rock Angelz - Cloe (Reverse).jpg
  • We use this format because it's best for SEO and helping people find specific dolls and artwork. Images with random numbers for a file name will be deleted.
  • If you remove an image from a page, please add the 'delete' template to the image page so an admin can delete it. We currently have over 1000 unsorted, unused images because of people removing images from pages but not deleting them.
  • Fan art is only allowed in on discussions, personal profiles, blog posts and the wikis fan corner.

Biased Editing

  • Please don't edit articles in a biased way. Removing, vandalizing, altering or editing articles of relationships, media, lines or characters you don't like is not appropriate and should not be done. If there is article you don't like the subject of, please leave it alone rather than edit it.

Kindness

  • When editing please be respectful to those who may be reading or editing the wiki. Remember your manners and refrain from using language that may upset or offend someone.
  • Also, since Bratz was created as a children's toy line we ask you refrain from using adult language in the comments, the pages and on the discussion board (personal pages is okay).

Copyright

  • Do NOT copy and paste text from the Bratz Wikipedia page, other wikis, other Bratz websites, or anywhere online unless you are quoting that page. Quotes must be sourced. Reword what you can.
  • Also, if you are another Bratz wiki please do not copy and paste content from our wiki. Rewording content is fine, but copying and pasting every word will result in us reporting the page or removing the content.
  • If you're a magazine, blog, journalist or YouTuber and you use our wiki as a reference for your article/video/podcast/tiktok, please credit us. I've seen quotes, edits and movie screenshots ripped right from our wiki without credit. Other non-fandom websites get credited for their work, we should too.

Becoming Admin

  • We're always looking for active admins to join the team.
  • To be considered admin you must be active at least 2-3 days a week, have over 200 edits on the wiki, have access to a laptop/computer (some edits cannot be performed on a phone) and be over 18 years of age.
  • Most importantly you must provide original content to the wiki.
  • What's NOT original content:
    • Opening the gallery search, typing in the article name and posting whatever images show up.
    • Copy and pasting whole paragraphs of information from other websites/wikipedia.
    • Making pointless edits. Changing "Cloe has blonde hair" to "Cloe has long blonde hair" for example, is completely pointless.
  • What IS original content:
    • Finding images online and uploading them to the correct articles
    • Doing your own research into products and contributing to articles
    • Gathering information from various Bratz media and referencing where you got the information in articles
    • Editing Stub articles.

Advertising

  • No advertising your Bratz website/blog on the wiki. We might allow some advertising of blogs and websites in return for advertising our wiki on your site, but please talk to an admin first.
  • That being said we don't allow advertisement of other Bratz wikis anywhere on the wiki.
  • Do not post affiliate links. That is, links that would earn you money if someone clicks on them or uses the link to purchase a product.

User Pages

  • Your user page, like any other page on the wiki, must adhere to global Fandom policy.
  • Do not edit other users talk pages. If there is a problem with another users talk page report it to a admin.
